How do you decide which drainage system a property needs?
We start with the source of the water, the path it follows, the elevations available, soil and surface conditions, and where water can discharge safely. The system should solve the actual flow problem rather than simply burying pipe in a wet area.
Can a French drain fix standing water?
A French drain can intercept subsurface or shallow groundwater in suitable conditions, but it is not the answer to every drainage problem. Surface grading, a catch basin, channel drain, or solid pipe may be more appropriate depending on how the water arrives.
Do you install drainage behind retaining walls?
Yes. Retaining-wall scopes can include free-draining aggregate, filter fabric, perforated drain pipe, outlets, and surface grading. The exact drainage detail depends on wall design and site conditions.
